Argus Panoptes

Argus Panoptes ( Ἄργος Πανόπτης ) in Greek mythology is a Gigant -eyed hundred who managed to kill Ekhidna .

Hera asked Argus to watch Io , which has been converted into a cow by Zeus .Hera wanted to keep Io from Zeus. With a hundred eyes, Zeus will not be able to take Io without the knowledge of Argus. Even when asleep, some eyes remain open and keep an eye on Io.

Zeus then sent his son Hermes to kill Argus. Hermes disguised as a shepherd and lull Argus to play his music. Hermes then killed Argus so that Io could be free.After the death of Argus, Hera took the eyes of Argus and put it all on his favorite birds, the peacock .
