Eileithiia

Eileithiia , ( Greek : Εἰλείθυια) is the goddess of birth in Greek mythology . In Roman mythology, the comparison is Natio ("birth") orLucina ("light bearer"). Eileithyia described as a woman carrying a torch, symbolizing the pain of childbirth, or both hands raised into the air to bring the baby to the light.

When Alkmene about to give birth to Heracles , Hera sent separately Eileithiia Alkmene to withstand the birth and the baby died.Alkmene maid, Galinthias saw the goddess standing in the doorway, crossing his arms and legs, and shouted Galinthias baby was born so that Eileithiia surprised and release the spell. The result could give birth to Herakles Alkmene. Eileithiia very angry for having been deceived, and then change into a skunk Galinthias.
